Gmail ora supporta lo standard IMAP

Non l'ho ancora provato (l'ho appena scoperto da un post sul canale Google di Jaiku) mi sembra comunque un cambiamento di notevolissima portata (come potranno capire tutti quelli che apprezzano lo standard IMAP per la lettura della posta, ben più flessibile ed evoluto del classico ed ancora utilizzatissimo POP3). Il fatto di poter usare IMAP per leggere Gmail consente finalmente di usare un client di propria preferenza (ma io direi Mozilla Thunderbird!!) per leggere la posta, lasciandola sul server e dunque potendo trovare le proprie mail al loro posto, qualsiasi computer si stia usando. Notevole davvero.

Accipicchia. Sarò un fanatico, ma... Ormai non riesco proprio più a trovare una ragione sulla faccia della terra, per non preferire Gmail a qualsiasi altro servizio di posta elettronica, gratuito o a pagamento...! ;)

One of the most requested Gmail features was the addition of IMAP support. POP is nice, but IMAP is a much better option. Among the advantages, you're always connected to the server, more clients can connect to the same account, you can obtain the text from a message without the attachments and the state information is synchronized (you can add labels from the client, read or delete a message and Gmail will synchronize).
